Susan Larcombe has been providing supervision to both Masters of Counselling Students as well as Provisional Psychologists in Alberta since 2018. Here is what to know if you’re interested in having me as your supervisor!
Practicum Students
Currently, I’m only able to take on one Masters’ program student at a time, so please express your interest early! Please reach out via the Contact Page and we will send a brief screener to ensure that our clinic will be a good match for your educational goals, and myself for your supervision.
(Or, skip the introductory email and complete the Practicum Screener here.)
If everything meshes, we can set up an interview.
Masters’ Program Graduates
Congratulations on making it this far! The College of Alberta Psychologists has a useful checklist on their website outlining the steps needed to register as a Provisional Psychologist and begin counting your hours towards licensure.
I can provide External Supervision, meaning you’ll need to find a worksite to provide you with clients and a space to practice. Your worksite will need to provide me with written permission to access your files, videos of your sessions, etc. Once your credentials are approved with CAP, you’re registered as a Provisional Psychologist, and you have a worksite confirmed, please reach out. Then, we can have a brief interview to ensure we’re a good match for one another. Please make sure that you’ve read through my website and have a sense of the kind of work I do and the clients I see. If you will be working with minors or with client issues outside of my scope of practice, we may need to bring on a second supervisor to complement my skill set and ensure you have the best possible learning experience.
Then, we can sign a supervision contract and create your Supervision Plan for our work together. We will meet a few times while we wait to hear back from CAP; I want to set you up to hit the ground running as soon as CAP gives their approval!
Group Supervision
I offer all my supervisees the opportunity for virtual monthly group supervision sessions alongside our individual sessions. I find learning in group supervision very rich. And from a practical standpoint it also significantly reduces the cost of supervision hours for Provisionals, since you can gain up to 25% of your supervision hours through a small-group format, as per CAP.
