Katarina Rodriguez,
Intern Therapist

Hi! My name is Katarina (she/her), and I am a counselling practicum student completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. I live and work in Whitehorse, on the Traditional Territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council.I approach counselling from a collaborative, client-centered, and trauma-informed perspective. My work is grounded in feminist and anti-oppressive values, and I strive to create a space that is inclusive, culturally responsive, and affirming of all identities. I believe that healing begins when people feel safe enough to be seen, heard, and understood. Together, we can explore your experiences with curiosity and compassion, while working toward meaningful change and a deeper connection to yourself.

I am particularly drawn to integrative, body-based approaches to therapy and have an interest in somatic, emotion-focused, and strengths-based modalities. I value the connection between mind and body and am interested in how we can gently reconnect with our internal experiences to support healing, regulation, and resilience.

Through my work as a high school teacher, I have supported youth with diverse emotional, cognitive, and cultural needs. Many of the students I work with identify as 2SLGBTQIA+ and/or are navigating identity development, anxiety, self-esteem concerns, and the impacts of trauma. I have also collaborated closely with counsellors, social workers, and families, which has deepened my appreciation for relational, community-based care.

I welcome clients with a variety of concerns, including:
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Self-esteem and identity exploration
  • Life transitions
  • Stress and burnout
  • Trauma and emotional regulation
  • Body image and relationship with self
  • 2SLGBTQIA+ experiences

Before pursuing counselling, I completed a degree in Human Nutrition, which continues to inform my holistic understanding of health and wellbeing. I am interested in how our relationships with our bodies, food, and self-care are shaped by broader social and cultural systems.

Outside of my work, I enjoy spending time outdoors, coaching volleyball, and connecting with others through movement and shared experiences. I also appreciate quiet moments, whether that’s reading, cooking, learning something new, or simply slowing down.

I am seeing individual adult clients virtually.

My session rate is $75/session. I offer a sliding scale as needed.

If you feel I would be a good fit, please reach out via the Contact page.

I look forward to working with you!
