Why Square Peg Psychology?

In the Spring of 2021 in the midst of the COVID pandemic, I found myself on the verge of branching out in a new direction. A successful psychology practice I co-founded was about to dissolve. I was working from home while my colleagues were restarting in-person services. And at the tender young age of 42, my spouse and I had barely started our young family while our siblings were sending their kids off to junior high. In many ways, I was feeling like a fish out of water. However, in my client work, I was feeling more energized and authentic than ever.

As I consider the many ways I connect to my clients, I realize there is a common thread of sometimes feeling like the odd one out. Many of my clients (and myself) often feel a bit outside of the 'norm'. This theme seems to come up anytime people get in touch with those innermost parts of themselves where we are all just a little bit weird  一 where all our tender longings reside. The idea of  'trying to fit a square peg into a round hole' perfectly conveys that for me 一 both the need to express one's individuality as well as that constant human yearning to belong.

I'm so excited to create a space here, with my amazing team, where you can experience a deep feeling of belonging and safety for all of your complicated, full, beautiful self.

Welcome.
