Holly Hollems,
Provisional Psychologist

Madison Dabbs-Petty wears glasses and a floral dress. She is smiling.
Hello! My name is Holly Hollems (she/her). I’m a Registered Provisional Psychologist (AB P6575) with a Bachelor’s in Gender Studies and Psychology from the University of Alberta, and a Master of Counseling degree from City University of Seattle's Edmonton Campus. I live and work in Amiskwacîwâskahikan/Edmonton on Treaty 6 land. I am also working towards becoming an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist. You can see the list of continuing education courses I’ve taken below.

In addition to regular talk therapy, I can also provide sex therapy for individuals, couples, and the infinite constellations of consensual non-monogamy. Every client and situation is unique so I strive to maintain a beginner’s mindset, free of assumptions and full of curiosity. I want my office to be a safe place for your whole self, as you are. You are always worthy of care.

My work as a therapist is trauma-informed and client-centered, primarily drawing from Feminist and Systems models of therapy. I believe the core of the human experience is interactive and co-created. Our lives are shaped by the systems we grow in, our relationships with others, and even our relationship with ourselves!

I am particularly interested in working with:
  • Sexuality/Sexual Health
  • Relationships
  • Gender Identity/Roles/Transition
  • LGBTQIA2S+ Experience
  • Kink/Fetish/BDSM Practitioners
  • Neurodiversity (ADHD, Autism/ASD)
  • Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) Experience
  • Life Transitions
  • Stress
  • Depression
  • Addiction
  • Anxiety
  • Attachment Issues
  • Body Image/Positivity
  • Couples/Relationship Therapy

Outside of work, I am a Girl Guide Leader who has been camping since before I was born! My other hobbies include crafting, gardening, and tabletop roleplaying.
Books I’ve Read Recently:
  • Tell Me What You Want by Justin Lehmiller, PhD
  • The Body Keeps The Score by Bessel van der Kolk, M.D.
  • Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer
  • Sexual Intelligence by Marty Klien, PhD
  • Better Sex Through Mindfulness by Lori A. Brotto, PhD
  • Mating in Captivity & The State of Affairs, both by Esther Perel
Continuing Education Courses:
  • Becoming a Master Therapist
  • Sex and the Saints
  • Sexual Attitude Reassessment
  • Sexuality While Trans
I will be seeing clients both virtually and in person.
My full rate is $150/session and I am able to offer a sliding scale when needed.
