Meeting a new therapist can be intimidating or overwhelming, so here are some random tidbits to help you get to know me first:

I am raising a toddler with my amazing spouse. She grounds all of the ‘theory’ I’ve learnt about how resilient, trusting, and beautiful humans are when we first come into the world.

I am a cisgender queer woman. This deeply informs parts of my work – because unpacking heteronormativity and gender roles can help us clarify who we are and what we want beyond what society expects of us. I am white and able-bodied, which explains many of the ways I move with ease through this world. I nerd out on the politics of the body and issues of sexuality, psychology, parenthood, and consent.

I love to cook and bake. Sharing food at a table with friends and family is one of my most treasured pastimes.

I’m an avid cyclist, a VERY novice cross country skier, a laid back knitter and cross-stitcher with completion issues, a slow swimmer, and a lover of the outdoors in any season.

I have a huge and enthusiastic puppy dog and a senior citizen cat; both are very demanding of my love and attention.

I believe that we are here on earth to connect, and that disconnection is the source of a lot of the trauma and violence in our world. Of course, it’s also more complicated than that.

I alternate between watching TV that showcases the kindness and creativity that humans are capable of and shows that draw deep, uncomplicated, sometimes problematic distinctions between good and evil. Think The Great Canadian Baking Show, Never Have I Ever, Heartstopper…and Buffy. Both kinds of shows are good antidotes to the complexities that arise in my work with clients and in life.
I was born, live, work, and love, under the endless prairie skies of Treaty 6 territory and homeland of First Nations and Métis peoples. Edmonton/ Amiskwacîwâskahikan / ᐊᒥᐢᑲᐧᒋᐋᐧᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ / is a traditional meeting ground, gathering place, and travelling route of the Nêhiyawak (Cree), Anishinaabe (Saulteaux), Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Métis, Dene, and Nakota Sioux and other nations. As a colonizer of this land, I acknowledge the harms that have come from my ancestors and the privileges of colonial violence from which my descendants and I continue to benefit.
